When you enter your bank card number (16 digits without spaces, with a valid expiration date and the 3 digits on the back of the card), the SNCF payment site consults the bank card authorisation centre which allows or does not allow the card to be debited.
The maximum number of transactions per day is 3 for a total of 860 euros per day. If you make a mistake when entering your bank card number, it is locked for 24 hours for security reasons.
If your banking transaction is refused on-line, you can try your reservation again only after waiting for at least 24 hours.

6Is on-line payment secure?
Print this question / answer
www.tgv-europe.com makes use of high-performance technology: the SSL encryption process that protects all of the data pertaining to means of payment, in order to guarantee that a transaction is fully secure.
A padlock will appear on the payment pages. This symbol indicates that all key entry of bank information on tgv-europe.com is fully secure.
The URL address of tgv-europe.com must start with https:// (the 's' means secure): the information is therefore encrypted and as such protected before it transits over the Internet.

Internet Explorer displays, according to the versions, a closed padlock in the lower right-hand section of the screen or in the lower left-hand section of the screen.

Netscape Navigator displays a full key on a blue background in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.

Netscape Communicator displays a closed padlock in the lower left-hand section of the screen.
In addition to this secure encryption process, SNCF uses the SIPS secure system developed by ATOS, the European leader in secure payment systems.
This protocol is used by most French banks and major actors in on-line sales. It provides optimal protection for credit card numbers that transit on the Internet. In this way, your bank information is encrypted before it is sent to our server.
The credit card number is not stored in the site's sales history, which provides additional protection, but it is then necessary to enter this information again, each time a purchase is made on-line.
